Marvin Parham

"1945 – 2017" Candler – Marvin Baxter Parham, 71, passed away on Sunday, January 01, 2017 at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Ray and Ethel Reece Parham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Parham; and one sister, Joann Parham. Marvin was the owner and operator of Parham's Underground Construction of Asheville. During his five months of illness, he will be remembered for having touched many lives in demonstrating a great sense of strength, courage, and independence. When Marvin's work was done, he passed peacefully surrounded by his cherished family. He is survived by a daughter, Tina West and husband, James, of Asheville; one son, Ricky Parham and wife, Sherri, of Candler; four sisters, Marjorie Foster and husband, Harold, of Alexander, Rhonda Lipe and husband, Herb, of Marshall, Brenda Griffin and husband, Gary, of Burnsville, and Sandy Ware and husband, Kenny, of Leicester; grandchildren, Brandon and Terra Mashburn, Rick and Ryan Parham, Thomas Ware, Dillon Smith, Josh, Quentin, Nathan, and Noah Heflin, Alanna, Navarrie, and Lula; three great-grandchildren, Quinn Anna Grace Mashburn, Brooklyn Reece Pittman, and Makenzie Lee Pittman; and a special thank you to his niece, Kim Heflin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Kellen Griffin and Reverend Cliff Franks officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Rick and Ryan Parham, Thomas Ware, Pete Parham, Rick Griffin, Zack Griffin, Brandon, Mashburn, Josh and Quentin Heflin.
