Marvin Pressley

Marvin Roosevelt Pressley, age 73, of 2790 Old Henson Cove Road died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Mission Hospitals - St. Joseph Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Myrtle Pressley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ervin Pressley; his paternal grandparents, Jim and Rossie Pressley; and his maternal grandparents, Kennie "Dock" and Nora E. Pressley. He retired in 1996 from Lea Industries with 27 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan Liner Pressley; a son Keith Pressley and his wife, Marcey, of Canton; three daughters, Lisa Griffin and her husband, Les, of Canton, Roberta Whitner and her husband, Bryan, of Canton, and Anita Sorrells and her husband, Robbie, of Leicester; two sisters, Gladys Angel of Asheville and Geraldine Messer of Canton; four grandchildren, Austin Griffin, Brittany and Heather Pressley, and Cody Sorrells. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend R. G. Garland, Reverend Dallas James, and Mr. Jerry Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Center Pigeon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home.
