Mary Adamson

December 18, 1930 — September 5, 2007

Canton - Mary Lou Adamson, age 76, died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital after a long illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late, Lawrence Albert and Loni Hall Cogburn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Olin Adamson, who died in 1992 and three sisters, Gladys Hannah, Eva Trull and Willie Pless. Mary Lou was employed at Silver Bluff Nursing Home in the dietary department for eight years and was a member of East Fork Baptist Church. She loved and enjoyed her family very much. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa A. Rogers and her husband, Ed, of Canton and Danese A. Thompson and her husband, Gary, of Clayton, NC; one son, Mark Adamson and his wife, Candace, of Canton; one sister, Jeanette Abbott of Lake Junaluska; one brother, L.A. Cogburn and his wife, Mary, of Canton; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2007 at East Fork Baptist Church where the body will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service with Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow in New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Memorials may be made to the Lewis Rathbun Wellness Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
