Mary Alexander

Mary Knight Alexander, age 88, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 1, 2005, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Batavia, Ohio, but had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Knight and Nona Vaughn Plott. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bruce Alexander who died in 1978; two brothers Harvey Knight, Joe Plott and one sister, Odessa Branson. Mrs. Alexander retired from Dayco with 26 years of service and was a member of Plains United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Henderson; one son, Doug Alexander and his wife, Barbara all of Canton; five grandchildren, Shauna Robinson, Mikel Carver, Kam Henderson, Scott and Shawn Alexander; seven great - grandchildren, Hunter, Emily, Kayte, Kolby and Kelsey Alexander, Harper Henderson and Cline Carver and several nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2005 at Bon - A- Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road with the Reverend Kelly Jones and Reverend Jack Scott officiating. At other times the family will be at the residences of her daughter, Sharon Henderson and her son, Doug Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Silver Bluff Nursing Home, 100 Silver Bluff Drive, Canton, NC, 28716. Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Canton will be in charge of the arrangements.
