Mary Allmond

Mary Alice Pless Allmond, age 78, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. A native of LaSalle, CO, she was the daughter of the late James Paul and Bonnie Mae Sellers Pless. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hillard Allmond, who died in 1988 and a brother, Harold Pless. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mary Alice was remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, crafting, and spending quality time with her friends and family. She is survived by five sons, Donnie Lee Allmond and his wife, Linda, of Denver, NC; Luke Allmond of Colorado Springs, CO, William Allmond and his wife, Kim, of Stuarts Draft, VA, Jimmy Allmond and his wife, Diane, of Highlands, NC, and Troy Allen Allmond and his partner, Jerry Williams, of Flat Rock, NC; three daughters, Carolyn Bunyon and her husband, Richard, of Havana, FL, Paula Cotton, of Thomaston, GA, and Kathleen Barr and her husband, Charles, of Jay, FL; a brother, Reverend Howard Pless and his wife, Joanne, of Canton; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Gwyn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
