Mary Belcher

Mary Sue Shope Belcher, age 86, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Pisgah Manor Healthcare Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Garrett Hobert and Bertha Louellen Miller Shope. In addition to her parents, Mary Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hugh Belcher, who died in 2001; one son, Rex Belcher; two sisters, Mabel Hooker and Hazel Young; and three brothers, J.C., Calvin, and G.H. Shope, Jr. She sold Avon for over 40 years and was Sales Person of the Year in 1995. Mary Sue was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Ray Belcher and his wife, Angela, of Dacula, Georgia; one sister, Ruth Shope of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three brothers, Robert, James, and David Shope all of Candler; four grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Holly, and Desmond; six great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 3013 at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Dennis Thurman and Reverend Johnny Tiller officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior at the church.
