Mary Bell

Waynesville-Mary Ellen Bell, age 90, died Friday, July 13, 2007 at Autumn Care in Waynesville. She was a native of Utah and was a summer resident of Haywood County for many years prior to moving here in the 1980's from Coral Gables, FL. She was the daughter of the late R.C. and Birdie McClaren Willey of Hillside Terrace in Waynesville. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Bell who died in 1983; a son, Paul E. Bell, Jr. and a brother, Ron Willey. Mary Ellen attended First United Methodist Church of Waynesville and was an avid golfer, bridge player and flower gardener. She loved to travel with her husband and was a devout Christian. Mary Ellen is survived by a daughter-in-law, Linda Kay Bell Moore and her husband, Douglas of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Dr. Alison Bell and her husband, Coy Barefoot of Charlottesville, VA and State Representative Matthew Bell and his wife, Jackie of Avilla, IN; four great-grandchildren, Whitman and Schuyler Barefoot and Mitchell and Adara Bell. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Green Hill Cemetery with Brother Stephen Brock officiating. The family would like to thank all the staff at Autumn Care for their love and care for Mary Ellen.
