Mary Bentley

"1928 – 2016" Canton – Mary Lou Boone Bentley, age 88, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Spicewood Cottages. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Harry Everette and Lydia Louise Bagwell Boone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Adam Bentley, who died in 2009; a grandson, Michael Frazier Bentley; a granddaughter, Lisa Ann Parker; two sisters; and four brothers. Mary Lou loved the weekly family gathering affectionately known as "The Boone Breakfast" and was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Lydia Katherine Young (Paul); three sons, Daniel Everett Bentley (Janice) of Canton, James Boone Bentley (Anne) of Carrollton, Virginia, and Thomas Michael Bentley of Canton; two sisters, Sue Conard of Canton and Nancy Powell of Asheville; two brothers, Bernard and Tom Boone both of Canton; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Morning Star United Methodist Church with the Reverend Nicole Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morning Star United Methodist Church – fund for Haitian children, P.O. Box 1746, Canton, NC 28716.
