Waynesville, Greenville SC, Mary Frances ("Skeeter") Bocook, age 88, of Brookdale of Greenville, died on Monday August 8, 2016 in Greenville Memorial Hospital. A native of Asheville, NC, and former resident of Clearwater, FL, Skeeter had resided in Haywood County, NC for 20 years, and had lived in Greenville, SC for the past 8 years. She was the daughter of the late William Claude Bryant and Mary M. Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Alexander Bocook and a grandson, Andrew Thomas Bocook. Skeeter was a 1945 graduate of Lee Edwards High School in Asheville, NC. She was active in the Clearwater Newcomers Club, and also owned the Snoop Shop, a Craft store in Clearwater, FL. In 1979, she and her daughter, Jan, opened and managed an up-scale Interior Design Studio, Skeeter's Ideas, in Largo, FL. Skeeter's Ideas successfully served local and national clients for 20 years. Skeeter was a singer, and sang with her husband, Jack, who was a talented saxophone player in the Big Band Era. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Waynesville Country Club and enjoyed bridge and traveling. She was a member of the Board of the Haywood Arts Repertory Theatre, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. She is survived by a son, Jay Alexander Bocook and his wife, Jana, of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Jan Alison Hunter and her husband, William J., of Spartanburg, SC and Jennifer Lynn Bocook of Phoenix, AZ; and two grandsons, Jayson Alexander Bocook and his wife Lauren of Columbia, SC and Daniel David Dredger of Washington D.C. A graveside service and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Green Hill Cemetery Columbarium, Waynesville with Reverend Sanford L. Giles, Jr. officiating.
