Waynesville- Mary Virginia Boswell, age 92, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was a native of Wallace, North Carolina and a prior resident of Miami, Florida before moving to Haywood County where she lived for the past ten years. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Mary Jane Carter Norris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Boswell, who died in 1956, four sisters and six brothers. She was a member of Church by the Sea in Miami, Florida and was a homemaker. Mary enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, bingo, shopping and being on the go. She was an honorary member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Miami, Florida and a member of Miami Shores Country Club. Mary was the loving mother to her daughter, Ginger Shinn and her husband, Bert "Bud" of Maggie Valley; one son, William H. Boswell and his wife, Anne Marie of Kure Beach, North Carolina; one sister, Lois Allen of Melbourne, Florida; and a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and loved her many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be at Southern Memorial Gardens in Miami, Florida. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
