Mary Boyd

Mary Christine Black Boyd, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Riley Black and Gertrude Ethel Sealey Black. She grew up in the Dix Creek area and had been a member of Erwin Hills Baptist Church until her health declines after a stroke. She had worked for Nestle Candy Company and the Buncombe County Health Department Children's Clinic. She loved flowers and all kinds of music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Elizabeth King; granddaughter, Alexandra King; sisters, Ruby Black, Frances Louise Black Carr and Lou Ella Black Wells.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gilmer Boyd; sons, Doug (Caye), Ron and Butch (Doris) King; grandchildren, Cassie, Michelle, Kevin, and Morgan and dog, Buddy.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 1 in the Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn Chapel of Faith, Candler. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow the service.
