Mary Buckner

Candler – Mary Green Buckner, 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her residence.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Doshia Stamey Green.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Buckner, who died on March 2, 2008.  Mary enjoyed her work in the Lake Junaluska community.

She is survived by three sons, Tony Burnette (Beverly) of Fairview, Timothy Burnette (Michele) of Candler and Jeffrey Burnette (Karen) of Candler; three sisters, Louise Teague of Clyde, Beatrice Lloyd of Hickory and Lucille Swanger (Bob) of Clyde; two brothers, Charlie Green and Jimmy Green; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend David Trull officiating.  The family will receive friends following service.  Burial will be at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
