Mary Cody

Mary Holland Cody, age 54, of Wiley Haynes Drive, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Staten Island, NY and the daughter of the late Rick V. and Theresa Kane Holland. She was also preceded in death by a son, "Angel" Green. She was a member of Maggie Valley First Baptist Church. Mary was the first female medical examiner in Western North Carolina. She was a very crafty woman who loved to crochet. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the Tar Heels play basketball and attending NHRA races with her beloved husband, Mark. She had a special place in her heart for her family, friends, and especially her four dogs, Burley, Macobee, Abigail, and Princess. She is survived by her husband of nine years, Mark Cody; a daughter, M. Yvette Green of Whittier, NC; two sons, Scott Green and his wife, Karla, of Myrtle Beach, SC and Lenny Green of Florence, SC; a sister, Rickie Garner and her husband, Charlie, of Canton; a brother, William Holland and his wife, Lana, of Columbus, MS; and five grandchildren, Kristina Green, Canden Green, Hayley Green, Savannah Green, and London Green. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Larry Grindstaff officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Field Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
