Mary Cooley

Mary Reeves Cooley, age 65, of 21 Pruett Lane, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late John K. and Betty Olsen Reeves. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kindred Reeves. She graduated from Western Carolina University and was employed by Haywood County Department of Social Services. Mary was a member of the Order of Eastern Star as well as an active volunteer with many aspects of the Democratic Party. She is survived by one son, Christopher Drew Cooley, his wife, Sarah, of Weaverville; three sisters: Martha Strickland of Burke, Virginia, Rebecca Pastoor and her husband, Bert, of Lake Junaluska, Sarah Butters, her husband, Brian, of Buffalo Grove, Illinois; and three beloved grandchildren, Peighton and Drew Cooley and Ashlyn Adams. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, 2010. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Haywood County, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721. Hospice was very dear to her heart.
