Mary Thompson

April 4, 1925 — November 15, 2004

Clyde-Mary Elizabeth Gibson "Muv" Thompson, age 79 of 124 Reynolds School Road, died November 15, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Before moving to Petersburg, VA for the past 6 years, she was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Rant "June" Gibson and Mary Conley Forney and the wife of the late Arthur Glendon Thompson. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Glenna T. Madden, Diane T. Logan and one brother Rant "Sonny Boy" Gibson and one half-brother June Z. Gibson. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and worked for several years for the Haywood County Foster Grandparents Program, which she dearly loved being a part of and retired from the Dietary Department at Haywood County Hospital. She attended Allen School in Asheville. She is survived by one devoted and loving daughter and caregiver Ruth Ann Wyche of Canton, one sister-in-law Doris Cowan, one brother-in-law Clarence Thompson, step-brother Anthony Tony Gibson, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, November 19, 2004 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Gibson Town Community Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. At other times the family will be at the home.
