Mary Fisher

March 10, 1963 — April 22, 2017

Mary Evelyn Fisher, 54, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Vinia Franklin Fisher. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Jones. Mary was employed for 28 years with the Haywood County Sherriff's Department as a Correctional Officer where she was the longest serving employee at the Haywood County Detention Center. Mary dearly loved animals and enjoyed being outdoors and loved fishing. She cherished her honorary children and grandchildren. She is survived by her life partner of 21 years, Molly McCurdy; children of heart, Brandy Brown and her husband, Eric, James Snyder, and Michael McCurdy; seven grandchildren, Ariana, Olivia, Trevor, Henson, Madison, Xavier and Daytona; a great-grandchild, Ryleigh; three sisters, Josephine Ewart Pace and her husband, Ronald, of Canton; Nell Rathbone and Mary Fisher of South Carolina; four brothers, Bruce, Sammy and Holbert Fisher and Jarvis Ewart; special friends, Vickie Shipman, Sandy Crews and Maggie Hartline; many nieces and nephews; and three miniature dachshunds, Emmy, Cricket and Daisy. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Aryn Ruebel and Reverend Dennis Queen officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
