Mary Hamilton

Lake Junaluska-Mary Moore Hamilton, age 70, died Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at her residence.

A native of Dublin, Georgia, she had lived in Haywood County for the past 48 years. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Leland Moore and Elizabeth Belcher Moore. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Hinton, and two brothers, Thomas and Haywood Moore. She was a graduate of LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia where she was also active in theatre and had several leading actress roles. She was a former teacher and substitute teacher. She was an avid flower gardener and was a member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Reverend James Robert Hamilton; four daughters, Elizabeth H. Modlin, and her husband, Bill, of Hendersonville, June H. Bost and her husband, Ted, of Hickory, Susan H. Maultsby and her husband, Kenneth of Asheville, and Laura H. Palmer of Maggie Valley; a brother, Charles Moore, of Franklin; four grandchildren, Betsy, Alice, and Nathan Bost and James MacDonald; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2003 at Clyde Central United Methodist Church with the Reverend Chris Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service, and at other times, the family will be at the residence. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Moore, Bill Modlin, Kenneth Maultsby, Ted and Nathan Bost, and James MacDonald.
