MARY E. HAMLETT

Waynesville-Mary E. Hamlett, age 78, died Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Maggie Chambers Williamson and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Lewis and John Williamson. She loved to crochet. She was employed as a spinner for American Enka for 40 years before her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville.

She is survived by a sister, Sue South, of Hampstead, NC; and three brothers, James Williamson, of Waynesville, Walker Williamson, of Elmer, NJ, and Boone Williamson, of Candler, NC and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18th in the Waynesville Chapel of Well Funeral Homes with Reverend John H Christy, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. At other times the family will be at the home of James Williamson at 98 High Street in Waynesville.

Pallbearers will be, Kevin, Tommy and Charles Williamson and Anthony Turner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Waynesville First United Methodist Church at 566 South Haywood Street in Waynesville, NC 28786 or to the American Heart Association at P. O. Box 5216 in Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
