Canton-Mary Marshall Holtzclaw, age 81, died Friday, July 16, 2004 at Britthaven of Clyde. She was a daughter of the late Albert and Pearl Gaines Marshall and was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Canton where she was a church officer and pianist. She was a member of the Salvation Army for many years. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, John W. "Bill" Holtzclaw, one son, James Arthur Chandler of Greenville, NC, two step-sons, Karl Holtzclaw of Boise, ID and John W. Holtzclaw of Columbus, OH, one step-daughter, Erika Holtzclaw of Boone, NC, two sisters, Charlene Murphy of Fairborne, OH, Louise Clements of Dayton, OH, 2 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with Reverend Tim McRee officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the church prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Matthews, Adam Whitley, Bill Werner, Carl Holtzclaw, John Holtzclaw and Bill Edwards. Carlton Grey will serve as honorary pallbearer. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church Building Fund, 99 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716.
