Mary Clark Hughes

Clyde, Mary Clark Hughes, 94, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Smoky Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation.  A lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Addie Coleman Clark.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, A.D Hughes who passed away in 1987; four sisters Lula Smith, Azalea Duckett, Ella Mae Hughes, Rachel Sellars, and one brother, Hillard Clark.

Mary was in the Healthcare field for over 50 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

She was a faithful member of Finchers Chapel United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed working in her flowers being that marigolds were her favorite.

Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Davis (Mike); a sister, Pauline Rogers; two granddaughters, Jackie Hannah and Amanda Schmersahl; one step-grandson, Heath Davis (Shonda); four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at Finchers Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Kitty Crain and Reverend James Marsh officiating.  Visitation will be from 2:45 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to services.  Burial will follow the service at Finchers Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 581 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC  28731
