Mary Klopp

Waynesville, Mary Jane Edwards Klopp, age 91, of 130 Tate Street, passed away on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at her residence. A native of Durham, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Eva Marie Kramer Edwards and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Louise Klopp, and two brothers, Charles W. Edwards, Jr. and Daniel Kramer Edwards. She received her teaching degree from Duke University and later Columbian University's School of Social Work. She worked as an educator in both North Carolina and Ohio school systems and was a member of the Haywood County Genealogy Society. Mary enjoyed writing, taking riverboat cruises, and singing in the First United Methodist and Long's Chapel United Methodist Church choirs. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John C. Klopp; two daughters, Eva Elizabeth Lindsey and her husband, James, of Asheville and Kathryn Anne Heatherly and her husband, Ronald, of Clyde; one son, Charles Edwards Klopp and his wife, Toni, of Mobile, Alabama; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend George Thompson and Reverend Kelley R. Jones officiating. Private inurnment will be at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
