Mary Ledbetter

Haywood County-Mary Carolyn Lewis Ledbetter, age 61, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 after a period of declining health at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Haywood County, she had lived most of her life in the county and was the daughter of the late Wade McClain and Mamie Thompson Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Ledbetter, who died in 1999 and a sister, Bobbie Jean Robinson. She was a nurse and was employed by several local nursing homes, including Canton Nursing Home and Britthaven. She was also the former manager of Mountain View Apartments. She is survived by two sons, Jeff Smith and his wife, Wanda, of Clayton, NC and Tré Ledbetter and his wife, Sabrina, of Waynesville; two sisters, Willie Mae Hall of Canton and Myrtle Learman, of Grassy Valley, CA; and four grandchildren, David and Kyle Smith and Taylor and Will Ledbetter. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
