Mary Ledford

December 4, 1939 — January 12, 2011

Lake Junaluska, Mary Jo Ray Ledford, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Elbert B. and Evelyn Gaddis Ray and was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Ledford, who died in 2001 and her brother, James Ray. She retired from the Dayco Corporation in 1989 with 29 years service and was known for her beautiful decorating skills. Mary Jo was extremely dedicated to her family and loved caring for them. Her grandchildren were the "apple of her eye." She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Mills and her husband, Danny, and Karen Ledford, all of Waynesville; two sons, Jeffrey Ledford of Clyde and Christopher Ledford of Waynesville; and four grandchildren, Joseph Mills, Christen Nicole Ledford and Alex and Lucas Ledford. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Serinv as pallbearers will be Tom Posey, Steve Valentine, Steve Ledford, Joe Zarczynski, Scott Galloway and Michael Kirkpatrick. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
