Mary Cogburn

Clyde – Mary Henson Cogburn, 79, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Mary was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Ira and Lucille Kuykendall Henson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Sellen and Joann Ruff; and one brother, R.L. Henson.  Mary was a 1960 graduate of Bethel High School and retired from Champion International with 29 years of service.  She volunteered at Haywood Regional Medical Center and was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church.

Mary was classy lady who enjoyed shopping and taking care of her pets and grandchildren.  She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Billy Cogburn; one daughter, Robin Smith (Charlie) of Holden Beach, North Carolina; one son, Robert Edward Cogburn (Denise) of Canton; one sister, Betty Inman of Clyde; five grandchildren, Cassie Rogers (Cale), Meagan Pearson (Josh), Heather Price (Brandon), Marcy Sparks (Lane), and Leah Pressley; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Tim Lolley officiating.  Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
