Mary Gardner

December 6, 1937 — October 29, 2003

Canton-Mary McLeod Cochran Gardner,age 65 of the Bethel Community died Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at her residence.

She was a native of Hamilton, Scotland and had lived in Mays Landing NJ for over 30 years before moving to Haywood County 13 years ago. She was a daughter of the late James and Annie Reid Cochran and was the wife of the late Robert E. Gardner, Sr., who died in 1968. She worked as a CNA at Silver Bluff Nursing Home in Canton and also at Lenox China in Pomona, NJ for over 27 years. She was a life member of Weymouth-Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad in NJ and a past member of the Weymouth Fire Co. Ladies Auxillary.

She is survived by one son, Robert E. Gardner, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Mays Landing, NJ, a companion of 33 years, Carroll "Jim" Jenks of Canton, NC, one brother and two sisters, 4 grandchildren; Robert E. Gardner, III, Pat DiGiacoma, Jr., Anthony DiGiacoma and Christina DiGiacoma, all of New Jersey and a niece, Ann Lampley of NJ.

Memorial services will be held at Silver Bluff Nursing Home and Mays Landing, NJ at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Cancer Center for Women, 100 Ridgefield Court, Asheville, NC 28806
