Mary Mock

Waynesville, Mary Lou Holleman Mock, age 91, of Little Mountain Road, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, at her residence. A native of Cary, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Carter Wesley and Lenna Matthews Holleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard "Bernie" Angell Mock, who died in 2012; three sisters, Mildred Sandford, Martha Rose Pleasants, and Jean Holleman; and three brothers, Carlos, Doug, and Jack Holleman. Mary Lou graduated from Cary High School and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville, where she served on many committees and will be remembered by all for her "hallelujahs" and "amens." She was also instrumental in the start-up of Haywood Christian Ministries and used her God-given talent with her hands to be a seamstress and to excel in home cooking and needlepoint. Sound advice given to her family will never be forgotten. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Kirkpatrick and her husband, Weaver, and Deborah Mock Foster, of Waynesville and Melanie Bowles and her husband, Chris, of Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Kirk Kirkpatrick and his wife, Wanda, Angell Kirkpatrick Benson, Mary Curtis McCracken and her husband, Luke, Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick, Bernie Hampton and his wife, Jaime, Joanna Hampton, and Michael Bowles; and nine great-grandchildren, Kirklin, Weaver and Foster Kirkpatrick, Jett Benson, Lenna Kate and Hart McCracken, and Elijah, Ethan, and Breanna Hampton. The family would like to express a loving "thank you" to their extended family, the caregivers, who comforted Mary Lou: Jan Coriarty, Juanita Trull, Erin Norman, Linda Adams, Irene Shuler, Linda Cerny, Lindsay Davis, Marie Edwards, Betty Jo Ruff, Patti Green, and Christina Moody. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Weaver and Kirk Kirkpatrick, Weaver Kirkpatrick IV, Bernie Hampton, Chris and Michael Bowles, and Luke McCracken. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Friday prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Waynesville, P.O.
