Mary Moore

December 5, 1937 — June 4, 2011

Waynesville, Mary Frances Hightower Moore, age 73, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at her residence. Mary was a native of Haywood County, and had previously resided in Lithia Springs, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Huie Hightower, Sr. and Celia Ann Brock Hightower Reid. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Moore who died in 1993; and a brother, Thomas Huie Hightower, Jr. She retired from Georgia School System as a custodian. Mary enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, and word searches. She is survived by, two nieces, Kathy Chambers and her husband, Michael, of Waynesville and Lisa Fish and her husband, Stephen, of Canton; two nephews, Steve Hightower and Phillip Hightower both of Waynesville; 10 great nieces and nephews; 10 great-great nieces and nephews and one great-great-great niece; Dale Hightower raised as a son, and his wife, Tonya, of Georgia and their children, Dale Hightower, II, Tonya Hightower and Hershel Hightower. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth "Sonny" Rhinehart officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. At other times the family will be at the residence of Kathy Chambers. Memorials may be made to Medwest Haywood Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
