Mary Elizabeth Nash, a cherished member of the Asheville community, was born on August 10, 1928, in Asheville, North Carolina. She peacefully departed this life on October 17, 2024, in her hometown, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service.
Mary was a graduate of Biltmore High School and had a distinguished career with American Enka, Biltmore Foam and Fabrics, and Eaton. In every role she embraced, Mary exemplified diligence and commitment, traits that she carried into her personal life.
A devoted mother, Mary is survived by her loving sons, Bill Nash (Joan) of Asheville, Michael Nash of Asheville, and Donald Nash (Ginger) of Hot Springs; and her daughter, Mary Frances Emerson (Conley) of Asheville. She also leaves behind two sisters, Dorothy Ann Morgan of Arden and Donnie Grindstaff of Arden. Mary was proud of her five grandchildren, Gene Nash (Angela), Brad Nash, Buddy Nash (Beth), Steven Nash, and Jamie Crochet, as well as her seven great-grandchildren, Adam, Isabelle, Charlie, Corrinne, Chloe, Naomi, and Josephine.
Mary was known for her kind spirit and unwavering dedication to helping others in her community. She took great joy in staying connected with friends, often reaching out with a phone call to check in and share warmth. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and nurturing beautiful flowers, reflecting her love for both creative expression and the beauty of nature.
Active in her church's Women's Society at Sardis United Methodist Church, Mary contributed her time and energy to cooking and cleaning for church events each week. This involvement showcased her commitment to serving others and fostering a sense of community.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Andrew Nash, and her parents, James and Dosie Bell Jenkins Taylor.
A graveside service will be held on at 10:30 AM Monday, October 21, 2024 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, North Carolina. Pastor Victor Wilfong of Sardis United Methodist Church will be officiating with a special eulogy by Mary's great-grandson, Charlie Campbell.
Mary Elizabeth Nash will be remembered for her compassion, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering spirit of generosity, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.
The care of Mrs. Nash has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
