Mary Reece

March 6, 1923 — October 30, 2005

Clyde- Mary Cox Reece - age 82 - died October 30, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Wayne County but had lived in Haywood County since 1946. She was a daughter of the late Ira R. and Catherine Johnson Cox and the wife of the late J. Earl Reece who died in December, 2000. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Walter, Leslie, Bill, Charlie, and Albert Cox and four sisters, Laura Cox, Bessie Blackman, Alice Cox and Eddis Cox. Mrs. Reece was an elementary teacher having taught in Wayne County, Canton City and Haywood County Schools. She was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 46 years, organizing Vacation Bible School and Sunday school and a member of the personnel committee and a former employee of Baptist State Convention. She is survived by three sisters, Ruby Blackman, Sarah Connor and Gladys McCullen all of Goldsboro; one brother, Ira R. Cox, Jr. of Garner and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at Clyde First Baptist Church with Reverend James Parham and Reverend James Langford officiating. Entombment will follow in The Horizon at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Clyde First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 356, Clyde, NC 28721. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
