Mary Singleton

Waynesville, Mary Sue Grasty Singleton, age 78, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center. She was a native of Haywood County, and was the daughter of the late Guy and Lois Gibson Grasty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Evan Singleton; two sisters, Betty Hardison and Jackie Hannah and a brother, Howard Grasty. Mary Sue was a selfless and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She not only provided unwavering support for Don, Terry and Billy, but Evan as well for 49 years day and night prior to his passing October 2, 2008. She never complained once and considered it her "Motherly Duty." We are thankful for our time on earth with Mary Sue and are celebrating the fact that she is in Heaven rejoicing with all of her family and friends. Mary Sue enjoyed painting ceramics, and trips to Texas to see her sons and their families. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald Edward Singleton; two sons, Terry Singleton (Sheila) and Billy Singleton (Beverly) all of Round Rock, Texas; a sister, Dottie Harkins of Ormond Beach, Florida; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Grasty; and four grandchildren, Colby, Cameron, Kaleigh and Caleb Singleton. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska with Reverend Jimmy Huey, Reverend Chris Willett and Reverend Barry Willett officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
