Leicester, Mary Lee Stamey, age 71, of Noland Hills Drive, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital after an extended illness. She lived in Leicester for the past 18 years. Mary was the daughter of the late Albert Nathen Thomas and Myrtle Agnes Treadway Thomas, and was also preceded in death by a son, Tod Stamey. She loved playing the piano, and was the pianist for Redmond Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall. She loved to read and crochet and was a loving wife. Mary and Bob were married October 17, 1958. She is survived by her husband, Everett "Bob" Stamey, one sister, Betty Curtis and her friend Pat Valdez of Asheville, NC; two brothers, Al Thomas and his wife Lupe of Oklahoma City, OK; Dennis Thomas and his wife Jan of Asheville, NC; two grandchildren, Cheryl Y. Smith and her husband Chris and Christina M. Meadows and her husband Andrew, all of Richmond, VA. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Cecil Hopps and Reverend Warren Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park in Candler. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
