Waynesville-Mary Lou Walker, age 94, of 629 Golf Course Road, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Lorain, Ohio, she lived most of her life in Union, NJ and Morganton, West Virginia before moving to Haywood County in 1988. She was the daughter of the late Dana Scott Walker and Sadie Alice Keene Walker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond William Walker, who died in 1999 and three brothers. She served in Haywood Christian Ministries and was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church where she was former member of the senior adult choir, a former leader of Omegas, a member of Women's Missionary Union, and former teacher of Women's Golden Circle Class. She was a great knitter and loved needlepoint.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Allen, and her husband, Robert, of Waynesville; one son, Charles David Walker, and his wife, Jean, of Waynesville; one brother, Dana Scott Walker, II, of Wycoff, NJ; eight grandchildren, Stephen and David Allen, Mi Wha Chicoine, Linda Hankins, Katie Brindle, Tony Walker, and Sarah France Wright; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Don Letzring officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
