Mary Wiggins

Waynesville-Mary Nell Bryson Wiggins, age 74, of 35 Meadowind Court, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005 at her residence. She was a native of Tennessee, and moved to Haywood County at one year of age. She was the daughter of the late William Hayes and Essie Hooper Bryson. She graduated from Waynesville Township High School and Blanton's Business College. Mary Nell was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church since childhood, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and was involved in the decorating committee. She loved tennis and golf and was a member of the Waynesville Golf Club at the Waynesville Country Club. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Sam L. Wiggins, a daughter, Lee Anna and husband Greg Messer, of Waynesville, and a son David M. Wiggins, of Maggie Valley; she was known as "Nanny" to her two granddaughters, Catherine and Lilly Messer. She is also survived by two sisters, June and husband Bill Branson, of Waynesville, Sandra and husband Bruce Davis, of Waynesville; a brother, Harold and wife Barbara Bryson, of Lake Junaluska and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 4:00pm, on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Hazelwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Charles Dean, officiating. Entombment will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:30 pm, prior to services at Wells Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Waynesville. Pallbearers will be, Lee Finger, Darrell Tilley, Don Eudy, Gerald Gaddy, Hubert Wilson, Jr., David Price, Joe Fortner and Tony Davis.
