Canton – Mary Ellen Conner Clontz, 86, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
Mary was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Wiley Nicholas and Essie Oveline Mills Conner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children’s father, William Roy Clontz, Sr., who died in 2001. Mary loved quilting and growing flowers.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Gail Ford of Clyde and Joy Ann Freeman (Jimmy) of Lufkin, Texas; two sons, William “Bill” Roy Clontz, Jr. (Sandy) of Waynesville and Gerald Steven Clontz (Valerie) of Canton; one brother, Billy Randolph Earley of Newport, Tennessee; granddaughter, Teresa S. Bailey of Clyde; six additional grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road with the Reverend Barry Clark officiating.
