Maryellen Langdale

Maggie Valley, Maryellen Bernice Langdale, 51, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She is now at peace after a long and brave battle with stage-four lung cancer. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through 21 months of treatments. Yet even throughout her own struggle with cancer, she reached out to others affected by this horrendous disease. Maryellen was born on August 16, 1964 in Springfield, Illinois to James and Ruth Cody, the only daughter out of six children. Her surviving family members are numerous, but mainly include her husband of 19 years, James William "Jay" Langdale Jr. and was stepmother of Meagen Ortiz, Katherine Langdale and Devin Langdale and grandmother to Lexi Ortiz, Javi Ortiz and Kaden Langdale-Smith Maryellen is survived by her immediate family, three brothers, Weir and Becky Cody, Anthony Cody, William Cody. Other family members are unfortunately too many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews to list.
