Waynesville, MaryEtta Burr, 73, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017. A native of La Porte City, Iowa, MaryEtta was the daughter of the late Clifford and Faye Burr, in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dane Burr, daughter, Megan Cryberg. A graduate of The Ohio State University where she earned a BFA in Ceramics, MaryEtta enjoyed working and being in the studio creating works of art. She created functional stoneware and pottery in the hope that her art would be used in everyday life. For more than 20 years, MaryEtta and her late husband, Dane built Burr Studio on Main Street in downtown Waynesville, into a well-respected art gallery featuring their art and the art of many talented local and regional artists. In addition to her commitment to her art and the local artist community, MaryEtta was passionate about the lives of her family and friends. She could often be found sharing news about her granddaughter, Rachel or laughing with friends in the gallery or over a cup of tea. MaryEtta Burr is survived by her loving family, David Cryberg (Becky MacDonald); granddaughter, Rachel Cryberg; brother, Jim Burr (Kathy), and his children, Diana Simpson (Dick), Tom (Jaisha) and their families. Family and friends are invited to gather, Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the Wells Events & Reception Center to celebrate MaryEtta's life.
