Matthew Clary

Durham, NC, Matthew Kent Clary, age 24, of Waynesville and was currently a student of North Carolina State University passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Duke University Hospital. He is survived by his parents, Kent and Crystal Clary, of Waynesville, NC; a sister, Hannah Rose Clary, of Waynesville; maternal grandparents, B.C. and Mary Trexler, of Salisbury, NC; paternal grandparents, Joe and Katie Clary, of Raleigh, NC; uncle, Mark Trexler and his wife, Julie, of Dublin, GA; aunts, Lori Marchiando, and her husband, Joe of Morrisville, NC; and Amy Cozart and her husband, Kent, of Rockwell, NC; cousins, Ashley Trexler, Marianne Butler and her husband, Adam, Libby and Abby Cozart, Jack and Emma Marchiando and a host of special friends. Matt will be remembered as a brave young man who had a deep and abiding faith in God. He loved nothing more than being with his family and his many friends. During his illness, he inspired many and touched countless lives with his courageous battle. He loved baseball, and played for Crest High School and the Post 82 American Legion team in Shelby. He also loved NC State University and passionately supported Wolfpack athletics win or lose. Matthew was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in the Mountains. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at Grace Episcopal Church in the Mountains with the Reverend Arlene Lukas officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Haynes, Jacob Dixon, Arik Lemmon, Justin Witherspoon, Adam Hamrick, Nathan Sapoch, Ross Simmons, and Tyler Trice. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Ramsey, Austin Dedmon, and Avery Dedmon.
