Mattie Pless Pruett, age 88, of the Henson Cove community went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2005. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Thad B. and Bertha Wilson Pless. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Potter and her second husband, Thomas Pruett; four sisters, Mary Matthews, Ida Corzine, Wilma Rhodaarmer, Minerva Hicks and two brothers, Edvin "Doc" Pless and T. B. Pless, Jr. She was a homemaker and an active member of Long's United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Chancel choir and involved in the quilting circle. She is survived by a sister, Etta Corzine Hardin of Canton; a niece, Susie Pace-Griffin of Canton, who was her caregiver over the past seven years and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2005 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Matthew Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her niece, Susie Pace-Griffin, 175 Haywood Avenue, Canton.
