Maude Griffin

Maude Gasaway Griffin, age 92, passed away on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Victor Lee and Beulah Bell Womack Gasaway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, and four brothers. Maude was a member of Candler Hill Street Church of God and had worked as a nursing assistant at Memorial Mission Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Wiley Roger Griffin; one daughter, Shelby J. White of Candler; one son, Charles E. Griffin of Candler; two sisters, Marie Pitts of Bryson City, and Pearl Davis of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; two brothers, Lewis Gasaway of Powell, Tennessee, and Frank Gasaway of Bryson City; five grandchildren and their spouses, Pamela and Brian Burns, Kimberly and Eddie Hendricks, Gregory and Sallie Tipton, Allen and Darlene Griffin, and Eddie Griffin; one step-granddaughter, Mary Olsen; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Reverend Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements.
