Maude Leatherwood

Clyde - Maude Wiggins Robinson Leatherwood - age 79 of 1250 Crabtree Mountain Road died Tuesday, December 07, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a native of Swain County and had lived in Haywood County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Daniel and Leah Whiteside Wiggins. Mrs. Leatherwood was also preceded in death by her first husband, Clark Robinson, who died in 1976. She retired from BASF with 40 years of service in 1986 and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Maude was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Ellis Leatherwood; one daughter, Patsy Lederer and her husband Mike of Grafton, WI; one son, Russell Robinson and his wife Brenda of Canton; 2 step-daughters, Kim Leatherwood of Asheville and Kristy Leatherwood of Athens, GA; 2 step-sons, Jerry Leatherwood and his wife Darlene of Swannanoa and Jason Leatherwood of Atlanta, GA; 2 sisters, Francis Harley and Lavinia Page both of Albuquerque, NM; 2 brothers, Earl Wiggins of Asheville and Bruce Wiggins of Los Lomos, NM; 2 grandchildren, Kim Clontz and Mandy Lederer; 3 step-grandchildren, Emily Simpson, Josh Leatherwood and Shannon Cuff; 3 great-grandchildren, Rustin and Katelyn Dupree and Macy Clontz. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2004 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 8, 2004 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
