Maude Weibe

November 17, 1913 — September 9, 2004

Clyde-Maude Viola Shade Weibe, age 90, died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Maude "Viola" Weibe (everyone's Nanny) was born on November 17, 1912 in Baltimore, MD to the late Lula May Van Horn Shade. She retired at age 62 after 30 years of service with the former Koontz Dairy in Baltimore, MD. She enjoyed gardening in her retirement years. She moved to Florida with her daughter in 1986 and recently relocated to North Carolina in January of 2004. She was preceded in death by her father, in 1933; her infant son, John William Weibe, Jr. in 1968; her husband, John William Weibe; her mother, Lula Van Horn Shade; her brothers, William "Bill" Allen Shade, and Harry "Jack" Daniel Shade; her sister, Louise "Boots" Gardner of Baltimore, MD; her infant great-grandson, Scott Daniel Lockner; and in 1994 her daughter, Mabel Louise Shock; and her granddaughter, Brenda Lou Shock in 2000. She is survived by two granddaughters, Phyllis Otto and her husband, Lee, of Waynesville, NC and Judy McGee of Florida; one grandson, Richard Shock of Florida; and eight great-grandchildren, Jenny Otto, Fallon Lockner, Mark, Sean, and Adam McGee and Justin, Erica, and Scott Shock. Her family in North Carolina will hold private services. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Britthaven of Clyde and designated to the activities fund, 47 Morgan Street, Clyde, NC 28721.
