Canton – Charles Max Burnette, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 19 2023 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
Max was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Grover and Mary Sellers Burnette. Max was a proud United States Air Force veteran and a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church. He retired from Champion International and was a gentleman who was kind, honorable and had an awesome dry sense of humor with a smile that lit up the room. Max fully loved his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glenda Wells Burnette; daughter, Sharon Guerriero of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Charles Dewayne Burnette (Kristy) of Jefferson, North Carolina and Allan Burnette (Allison) of Canton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren with another one on the way.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023 at New Cruso Cemetery with the Reverend Nicole Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
The care of Mr. Burnette has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
