Max Duckett

Canton – Max H. Duckett, age 83, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at The Homestead. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James Harrison and Lassie Duckett. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Zillah Marie Duckett , who died in 2010; brothers, Randall, John, Harold, Gene, and Jimmy Duckett. Max taught Industrial Arts at Enka High School for 30 years. He will always be remembered for his beautiful Rhododendrons and Azaleas he grew. Max was a member of Canton First Baptist Church. Max is survived by two step-sons, Eddie Plemmons (Freida) of Florida and Dale Plemmons (Julia) of Canton; nieces, Linda Nanney, Laura Duckett, Nancy Cochran, Dianne High, Debbie Glavich and Sandy Hipps; nephew, Tom Duckett; and his faithful dog, Sadie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Jack B. Sammons and Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
