Max Mathews

"1929-2016" Clyde – Charles Maxwell "Max" Mathews, age 87, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at The Homestead. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late C.K. and Bertha Reed Mathews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Murr Mathews, who died in 1989; a daughter, Rebecca and two sons, Charles Michael and Johnny Mathews. Max was a United States Army Veteran. He is survived by two daughters, Debra Mathews Lance and husband, Randy, of Canton and Elizabeth Inman and husband, Ralph, of Clyde; two sons, Robert A. Mathews and Jason Mathews both of Clyde; a brother, Dean Mathews and his wife, Anna, of Canton; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Eric Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
