"1931 – 2016" Canton – Max Monroe Yarborough, 85, went to be with his Lord, on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Monroe and Fannie Messer Yarborough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Breedlove; a sister, Dorothy Best; and a brother Aubrey Yarborough. Max retired from Champion International with 35 years of service and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran having served as Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lola Ford Yarborough; two daughters, Nealia Brunson (David) of Gastonia and Rebekah Breedlove of Morganton; two grandchildren, Ashleigh Bradford (David) and Robert Brunson; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Calleigh Bradford; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ned Webb, Mr. Robert Brunson, and Mr. Neil Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Old Thickety Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
