Canton – Maxine Mann Kinsland, 92, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at her residence.
Maxine was a native of and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Joseph Baxter and Daisy Etta Robinson Mann. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Carroll Kinsland, who died in 2016; and eight siblings. Maxine was a bookkeeper for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for the western region and retired in 1995. She was an active member of Plains United Methodist Church holding the office of treasurer and finance officer for many years.
Maxine enjoyed playing bridge. In addition to her career, she was a caregiver to her mother, mother-in-law, and her husband until each of their passing.
She is survived by a son, Joseph Kinsland and wife, Denise, of Canton; three grandchildren, Luke Kinsland (Holly), Lyndsey Ferguson (Cody), and David Herndon (Megan); and four great-grandchildren, Ellie Herndon, Atley Kinsland, Addison Herndon, Laken Kinsland; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Zach Christy officiating. Burial will follow at Long’s Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, January 5, 2023 at the funeral home.
The care of Mrs. Kinsland has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
