Maxine S. Sorrells

Maxine Smith Sorrells, 68, of 1158 Crabtree Mountain Road, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at her home.

She was a native of Haywood County and lived there most of her life. She spent twenty five years traveling with her husband who was in the United State Air Force. She was daughter of the late Lonnie and Vernie Blaylock Smith and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of fifty years, J. C. Sorrells, Jr., a son, Rickey Sorrells of Clyde, a daughter, Rita S. Sorrells of Clyde, three sisters, Mary Ellen Pressley, June Mease and Shirley Sutton, all of Canton, a brother, Robert Smith of Enka, a grandson, David J. Sorrells of Clyde and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19th in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend James Parham officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice at 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 39 Robinson Road, Canton, NC 28716.
