Waynesville, NC-May Sentelle Boone Cope, age 85, of Red Springs, NC, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she had lived in Red Springs for 60 years. She was the daughter of the late William K. and Jennie Sentelle Boone. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Cope, who died in 1975; a sister, Adeline Patrick; and two brothers, Richard and William K. Boone. She was a graduate of Fairview High School and Asheville Normal Teachers College. During her teaching career, she taught at Red Springs High School and was the librarian at Holbrook Elementary School at Fort Bragg, NC. She was a volunteer for the Literacy Council and Robeson County Church and Community Center and served as secretary of the McMillan Memorial Library in Red Springs. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist of Red Springs where she served as a Sunday school teacher for the Susanna Wesley Class and was also a past member of the choir. She is survived by a daughter, Susan C. Kimel, and her husband, Max, of Waynesville; a son, Tom Cope, of Raleigh, NC; two granddaughters, Karen and Jennie Kimel; nieces, Mary Patrick Lemmons, Rebecca Caldwell, Nan Lou Langdale, Tanna Timbes, and Mary Helen Myers; and nephews, R.J. "Buddy" Boone and Sandy Boone. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at Trinity United Methodist Church of Red Springs, NC with Reverend Peter Belec officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 Sunday prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Boyette, Billy Currie, Rusty Duncan, Roy Dozier, Cary Hinds, Billy Ray Jackson, Ken May, and Paul Wilson.
