Maye Davis

Waynesville, Maye Burr Morrow Davis, age 95, died Friday, February 13, 2009 at Brookdale Senior Living Place, Kennesaw, Georgia. Mrs. Davis was born in Waynesville, North Carolina to the late William and Martha Treadway Morrow. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lee Davis who died in 1984; three brothers and five sisters. Mrs. Davis attended Appalachian State University and received her BS Degree in Education from Western Carolina Teachers College. She retired from the Haywood County School System having taught more than forty years. She was a member of North Carolina Association of Educators, Haywood County Retired Teachers and was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. She is survived by a son Allan Davis of Kennesaw, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2009 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Waynesville with the Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the "Find Us Faithful" Building Fund First Baptist Church, 100 South Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786
