Waynesville, Mazie Kinsland Muse Gerringer, 93, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 at J.F. Keever Solace Center.
A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Otis Garrett and Flora Caldwell Kinsland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Clarence Muse; second husband, Richard Gerringer; five sisters, Daisy Kinsland, Fannie K. Fugate, Beatrice K. Turner, Louise K. Nelson, and Ruth Smith; and a brother, Garrett Kinsland, Jr. Mrs. Gerringer retired after 26 years as a teacher assistant and secretary from Haywood County Schools and was a Red Cross volunteer. She was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church and served as an assistant teacher. Mrs. Gerringer loved her family dearly and it gave her great pleasure to do things for them. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and helping others.
Mrs. Gerringer is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Muse Grant, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hazelwood Baptist Church, 265 Hazelwood Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786 or to one’s favorite charity.
The care of Mrs. Gerringer has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
